We give you the last music video from our first shoot with Penny.
A Leonard Cohen original, this song has been recorded in as many different interpretations as the number of artists who sung it. We would like to mention two versions which served as our main inspiration— one from Kurt Nilsen (of World Idol fame) and his group, and the other one by Kate Voegele, sung in One Tree Hill.
Not to be mistaken as a strictly religious song, “Hallelujah” evokes more emotions not just from the singer but from the audience as well. Yes, some of the lyrics have references to the Bible, and the word “Hallelujah” itself means “Praise be to God,” but Hallelujah in Cohen’s song is spoken in times of strife, anguish and hopelessness, in the same passion that it is proclaimed in thanksgiving, adoration, and blessedness. These two aspects are probably the reason why it is considered the most debated song of all time.
Here’s our version.
